Shipman, Dawgs overpower Rebellion
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Madison Shipman hit two home runs, Rachel Fox pitched a complete game and the Houston Scrap Yard Dawgs defeated the Pennsylvania Rebellion, 8-1, Friday night at TicketReturn.com Field at Pelican Park.
Shipman hit a two-run homer in the Scrap Yard Dawgs’ three-run first inning against Rebellion starting pitcher Miranda Kramer (5-3). Shipman added a three-run blast in a four-run top of the fifth as Houston expanded its lead to 7-1.
Fox improved her record to 4-4 with her first complete game of the season.
The Rebellion pulled to within 3-1 in the fourth when Alissa Goler singled, moved to third base when Alex Peterson’s hit rolled under the outfield fence for a double and scored on a sacrifice fly by Cheyenne Cordes.
Houston’s Nerissa Myers hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh for the game’s final run.
The Rebellion, who have lost three in a row, will host the Chicago Bandits tonight at Consol Energy Park.
