Wild Things blanked by CornBelters

NORMAL, Ill. – Max Homick and two relievers combined on a two-hit shutout as the Normal CornBelters defeated the Wild Things, 2-0, Thursday night.

Washington produced only five hits in losing the final two games of the three-game series. The Wild Things will host Evansville tonight.

Homick took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Washington catcher Alex McKeon hit a leadoff single. The only other Wild Things hit was a leadoff double by Jimmy Yezzo in the seventh.

Homick (2-2) pitched 6 2/3 innings. Relievers Francisco Carrillo and Race Parmenter combined for 2 1/3 hitless innings.

Washington starting pitcher Chase Cunningham (2-1) allowed four hits and one run over five innings.

Ty Morris hit a solo home run in the seventh inning for Normal.
