Boomers get big inning, top Things
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – Dusty Robinson hit a three-run homer in Schaumburg’s six-run fifth inning and the Boomers went on to a 7-2 victory over Wild Things Saturday night.
Washington, which has lost three in a row, took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth when Austin Wobrock doubled and scored on a single by Andrew Heck.
The Boomers then had five of the first six hitters in the bottom of the fifth reach base against Wild Things starter Brandon Hinkle (2-3). Robinson’s three-run homer, his first of the season, gave Schaumburg a 5-2 lead.
The Boomers have won five in a row and 13 of 16.
Winning pitcher Gunner Kines (2-2) allowed six hits and two runs over seven innings. Nick Ferdinand had a run-scoring double in the fourth inning for Washington.
