Wild Things sign outfielder
The Wild Things have signed 25-year-old outfielder Jamal Austin for the upcoming Frontier League baseball season.
A veteran of five professional seasons, Austin was acquired in December as part of a five-player deal with Sussex County of the Can-Am League. After spending four seasons in the Seattle Mariners’ organization, Austin batted .293 with 30 stolen bases in the Can-Am League last year.
Austin was drafted by Seattle in the 13th round in 2011 out of Alabama-Birmingham. He batted .290 with 116 stolen bases in 360 games, playing in the Mariners’ system at the rookie, Class A and AA levels.
