Baseball: Everybody hits as Grove City edges W&J
Every player in Grove City’s starting lineup had at least one hit and Matt Waugaman slapped a two-run homer to help Grove City capture a 5-2 victory over Washington & Jefferson College in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference game Wednesday afternoon.
Travis Royer had a two-run double and for the Wolverines (4-1, 12-5) and shane Hammel knocked in a run.
Ryan Sciullo smashed a two-run home run for the Presidents (1-2, 5-6). Frank Fortunato had two singles and scored a run.
• Mike Najmowicz homered and Daniel Watson scored four times as Case Western defeated visiting Waynesburg 11-6 in a non-conference game.
Tyler Wypiszenski hit a pair of doubles and drove in four runs for Case Western (12-9), helping to make a winner out of relief pitcher Lee Penzarella.
Brandon Lawless allowed seven runs, six earned, in five innings to fall to 0-4 for Waynesburg (1-14), which has now lost 13 consecutive games. Johnathan Kletzli had three hits, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs for the Yellow Jackets.
