Softball: Unbeaten McGuffey wins at Carmichaels
Bri Hunter and Meghan Shultz each had three hits, including two doubles, as McGuffey defeated Carmichaels, 10-7, Thursday in a Section 2-AA game.
Shultz drove in four runs and Hunter scored three times. Winning pitcher Moriah McGuier also doubled for the Highlanders (2-0, 4-0).
Emma Lowry and Gina Ranieri doubled for Carmichaels (1-1, 1-4).
Canon-McMillan 10, Upper St. Clair 0: Linda Rush hit a grand slam in the bottom of the fourth inning and Kaylee Gohring threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts as Canon-McMillan defeated Upper St. Clair 10-0 in a five-inning Section 4-AAAA game.
Brittney Crawford also homered. Crawford and Rush each scored three runs for the Big Macs (2-0, 3-0).
Ashley Long had the lone hit for Upper St. Clair (0-1. 1-2).
Ringgold 5, West Mifflin 3: Natlie Adams doubled and tripled as Ringgold edged West Mifflin 5-3 in a Section 3-AAA game.
Lauren Gohacki and Taylor Mendicino added a pair of doubles each for the Rams (1-0, 2-0). Sam Polaski was the winning pitcher.
Amber Cook had four hits, including a double, for West Mifflin (0-1, 3-1).
West Greene 9, Perry (Ohio) 1:
Undefeated West Greene hit six doubles and three different players drove in two runs each as the Pioneers beat Perry 9-1 at the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
McKenna Lampe, Madison Renner and Lexie Mooney each had two RBI for West Greene (3-0). Renner earned the win with six strikeouts.
Riley Laboe hit a home run for Perry.
