Wild Things erase 4-run deficit, beat Slammers
JOLIET, Ill. – Jimmy Yezzo capped off a four-run seventh inning with a solo homer as the Washington Wild Things came back from a 5-1 deficit to beat the Joliet Slammers, 7-5, Thursday night in a Frontier League baseball game.
Yezzo’s homer, his first of the season for Washington (3-3) tied the game at 5-5. Austin Wobrock then had an RBI single in the top of the eighth and Grant Fink followed with a sacrifice fly to put the Wild Things ahead, 7-5.
Devon Davis pitched two scoreless innings of relief to get the win, while Andrew Woeck threw a perfect ninth to pick up his second save.
Joey Staley homered and drove in three runs for Joliet (3-4).
Washington will host Lake Erie Friday night in its home opener.
