Boys soccer: Baldwin stuns previously unbeaten Peters Township, 2-1
Baldwin scored on two of its three shots on goal and stunned previously undefeated Peters Township, 2-1, Tuesday night in a Section 2-AAAA match on the Highlanders’ home field.
The stunning upset was the first win of the season for Baldwin (1-4-1, 1-9-1). The loss leaves Peters Township, which was coming off a win over arch-rival Canon-McMillan Monday night, at 4-1 in the section and 7-1-2 overall.
Baldwin scored the first two goals of the game on shots by Lan Thar Eh and Devlin Iaquinta. PT pulled to within 2-1 on a goal by Matt Stuck, but the Indians were unable to get the equalizer.
• Trinity used an offensive explosion to blow past Albert Gallatin, 6-1, in a Section 3-AAA match. John Day had a hat trick, Logan Mowl scored a pair and Mason Pendergast added one for the Hillers (3-3, 3-7). Austin Aber had two assists, and Carson Nutter had one.
Nate Bricker was the lone goal-scocer for Albert Gallatin (0-6, 2-7-1).
• Host Brentwood edged California, 2-1, in Section 4-A. Brandon Powell scored the only goal for the Trojans, who are 2-7 in section and 2-8 overall. Brentwood is in third place in the section at 6-2-1.
• Brandon Russi scored Washington’s first goal of the season with 20 seconds to go but it was too little, too late against Yough as the Prexies lost 4-1 in a Section 3-AA match, remaining winless on the season. Conner Belko scored a goal and Alex Vilchek had a hat trick for Yough (5-3, 5-4).
Daniel Cruz-Hernandez made eight saves for Washington (0-7, 0-9).
