Baseball: Carmichaels knocks off Beth-Center
Carmichaels scored four runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning on just one hit, a double by Hunter Phillips, taking advantage of a hit batter and four walks, to beat Beth-Center, 6-3, Wednesday in a Section 2-A game.
Dylan Wilson also doubled for Carmichaels (7-2, 8-4), which trailed 3-2 going into the sixth after Beth-Center (2-7, 2-9) scored three runs in the fourth.
Anthony Dellapenna had a double for the Bulldogs.
• Logan Kulkoski’s two-out single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Frazier to a 13-12 Section 1-AA win over Burgettstown.
Timmy Sedock had a double and triple for the Commodores (4-5, 4-7), who were forced to rally after Burgettstown scored eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Cole LaRocka doubled, and Josh Noce had three hits for Burgettstown (1-8, 2-10).
• Steven Shallcross had a pair of doubles, driving in four runs, as Washington beat Southmoreland, 17-2, in a three-inning Section 3-AAA game.
Cooper Sharp added three RBI and winning pitcher Frankie Hartzell doubled for Washington (3-5, 5-7), which scored 11 runs in the second inning.
Cade Richter took the loss for Southmoreland (0-8, 0-10).
• Eric Riotto drove in five runs, four of which came on a grand slam, as Peters Township defeated Allderdice, 15-0, in a four-inning Section 3 game in Class 6-A.
Xander Cavanaugh added a double for the Indians (6-2, 12-2), while T.J. Dailey allowed three hits in the win.
Eli Smith took the loss for Allderdice (0-8, 0-10).
• Tristan Tinney had four hits, including a double and triple, and South Fayette scored six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to beat Ambridge, 7-1, in a Section 2-AAAA game.
Joey Alcorn and Cam Hoover added doubles for the Lions (5-4, 6-4), while Ryan Kokoski alloed just four hits in the win.
Nick Campalong took the loss for Ambridge (2-7, 2-12).
• West Allegheny took advantage of some early wildness, scoring five runs in the first inning on just two hits, as the Indians defeated Trinity, 11-1, in a five-inning Section 2-5A game.
Dave Donaldson had two of five hits for West Allegheny (7-1, 12-1). Michael Crawford got the win.
Nick Herrnberger, Jared Watson and Zack Johnston had doubles for Trinity (2-6, 4-8), which had four errors and issued seven walks.
• Mike Novak tripled and drove in three runs to help McGuffey stop Elizabeth Forward, 7-1, in a Section 3 game in Class 4-A.
Lane Wilkerson went 2-for-3, scored a run and drove in two for the Highlanders (4-4, 6-7). Novak also went seven innings, striking out seven, not allowing a run and picking up the win.
Christian Kampas doubled for EF (1-7, 2-10).
• Cam Weston hit and pitched Canon-McMillan to a 10-0, five-inning victory over Mt. Lebanon in a Section 3 game in Class 6-A.
Weston went five innings, striking out seven and doubled and drove in three runs for Canon-McMillan (8-0, 9-4), which has won eight straight. Justin Galati doubled and Ian Hess and Jordan Castelli each knocked in two runs.
Mt. Lebanon fell to 9-6 overall, 4-3 in the section.
• Isaiah Russell drove in the winning run with a single in the top of the 12th inning to give Bentworth a 6-5 win over Fort Cherry in a Section 1-AA game.
Justin Kisner pitched the final five innings, striking out five and not allowing a run. Josh Hughes had a double and two RBI for the Bearcats (4-5, 6-8).
Cam Schaub went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI for the Rangers (2-7, 4-8). He also allowed one run over the final 5 1/3 innings but took the loss.
• Antonio Cavalla had two hits and five RBI to pace Greensburg Central Catholic to a 15-0, three-inning win over Mapletown in a Section 2-A game.
James Rice doubled for GCC (6-1, 6-2). Mapletown fell to 2-5 and 3-8.
