Parsons scores career-high 33 in Cal victory
EAST STROUDSBURG — Behind 50 combined points from senior Shatra Parson and junior Mia Cushon, California University’s women’s basketball team rolled to a 78-69 victory over East Stroudsburg Sunday in a PSAC crossover game.
Parsons, who scored her 1,00th career points Saturday in the Vulcans’ victory over Bloomsburg, set a career high with 33 points on 13-of-17 shooting from the field and 7-of-10 from the free-throw line. She also tallied eight rebounds, two assists and four blocked shots. Parsons has six 20-point games this year, scoring at least 30 points twice.
Cushon scored 17 points to go with nine and three steals. She made seven-of-seven from the free-throw line. Cushon is averaging 12.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game after playing the previous two seasons at MCC-Penn Valley (Mo.).
With the win, the California improves to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference. East Stroudsburg is 3-1, 5-3.
California led 24-8 after one quarter and led by as many as 20 points in the first half.
