Cal women roll over UDC for 9th win
Shatara Parsons and Mia Cushon combined for 40 points and led four California University players in double figures as the Vulcans rolled to an 80-49 victory over the District of Columbia in a nonconference women’s basketball game played at Hamer Hall.
Parsons (21 points) and Cushon (19 points) each made seven of 14 shots from the field and grabbed nine rebounds to power the Vulcans to their ninth win in 10 games. Cal is 4-0 at home.
Parsons continues to lead the PSAC in scoring at 23 points per game after her seventh 20-point performance.
Freshman Bianca Jasper scored a season-high 11 points off the bench for Cal. Junior Abbey Sporio had 10 points in a backup role.
Cal took control of the game with an 11-0 run that opened a 24-11 advantage in the second quarter. After a basket by UDC (2-8), Cal went on 10-2 spurt for a 34-15 lead.
The Cal defense forced 25 turnovers by the Firebirds, who have lost seven in a row.
