Trinity hammers Laurel Highlands, Miles wins 300th
UNIONTOWN – Sierra Kotchman scored 19 points to lead a balanced attack as Trinity defeated Laurel Highlands and gave head coach Bob Miles in his 300th career win in a 78-24 Section 3-5A high school girls basketball game Saturday.
Miles, who also has coached at Fort Cherry, is now 75-35 at Trinity and is 300-160 in his career.
Abby O’Connor and Riley DeRubbo both added 16 points each, while Alayna Cappelli had 13 points for the Hillers (4-0, 10-1).
Laurel Highlands (0-3, 0-10) trailed 34-12 after one quarter and 55-19 at the half.
Chartiers-Houston 68, McGuffey 36: Alexa Williamson’s 27 points and a fast start helped Chartiers-Houston defeat McGuffey, 68-36, at the Chuckie Mahoney Classic.
Jala Walker chipped in 23 points for the Bucs (9-2), who led 38-20 at the half nad 60-24 after three quarters.
Emily Durilla had 10 points for McGuffey (0-10).
Burgettstown 46, Weirton, W.Va. 29: Emily Prasko’s 16 points helped Burgettstown defeat Weirton, W.Va., 46-29, at the Chuckie Mahoney Classic.
Kacie Prasko added 13 points for the Blue Devils (7-3), who outscored Weirton 25-10 in the second half.
Bailey Stead had 17 points in the losing effort.
Washington 62, Avella 29: Carly Allen’s 20 points helped Washington dispatch Avella, 62-29, at the Chuckie Mahoney Classic.
Rotti Finley added 14 points and nine rebounds, while Randi Thomas had 12 points for the Prexies (5-5).
Kodi Georgetti and Kenzie Keefer had eight points each for Avella (5-5).
