C-H’s Williamson passes 1,000 points in win
Junior forward Alexa Williamson scored a career-high 31 points and had 15 rebounds, going over 1,000 points in her career, as Chartiers-Houston stayed unbeaten in Section 1-AA with a 72-29 win over Shenango Monday night in a high school girls basketball game.
Williamson scored her 1,000th point in the third quarter and now has 1,007 in her career for the Bucs (5-0, 10-2).
Jala Walker added 21 points for Char-Houston, whose only two losses this season have come against Trinity and Beaver.
Jaqui Gilbert led Shenango (1-4, 3-9) with 11 points.
McGuffey 38, Waynesburg 22: Mikayla Maxwell scored 14 points as McGuffey won its first game of the season, upending Waynesburg, 38-22, in a Section 2-AAA game.
Emily Durilla added 12 points for the Highlanders (1-3, 1-10), who trailed 11-10 at the half.
Elle Hampson led Waynesburg (0-2, 1-8) with nine points.
Beth-Center 33, Serra Catholic 30: Kinlee Whited, Olivia Greco and Mary Gustovich made five free throws in the final minute after a Greco three-pointer had given Beth-Center a late lead as the Bulldogs edged Serra Catholic, 33-30, in a Section 3-AA game.
Whited and Greco scored 11 points each for the Bulldogs (2-3, 5-5), who trailed 16-9 at the half before getting back into the game with a 12-4 third quarter run.
Aaliyah Coleman and Rylan German had nine points each for Serra (2-3, 5-5).
Canon-McMillan 52, Baldwin 46: Cheyenne Trest scored 13 points and Canon-McMillan held off Baldwin, 52-46, in a Section 3-6A game.
Tamara Mathis added 12 points and Izzy Allen had 10 for the Big Macs (2-1, 6-5), who led 40-30 entering the fourth quarter.
Lauren Gilbert led scored 19 points to lead Baldwin (0-3, 5-5).
West Greene 73, Monessen 23: Four players scored in double figures to pace West Greene to a 73-23 victory over Monessen in a Section 2-A game.
Madison Lampe led the way with a career-high 27 points for the Pioneers (2-0, 9-1). McKenna Lampe scored 16, Marissa Rode 14 and Kaitlyn Rizor 13.
Zakavia Hariston led Monessen (0-3, 0-13) with seven points.
Avella 58, Mapletown 35: Grace Lengauer and Brayden Tarolli combined for 33 points as Avella downed Mapletown 58-35 in a Section 2-A game.
Lengauer poured in 18 and Tarolli 15 for the Eagles (2-0, 6-5), who lead 26-14 at halftime.
Kelci Smith had nine points and 14 rebounds and sister Kayla had seven points and 13 rebounds for the Maples (0-2, 3-8).
Burgettstown 54, New Brighton 25: Emily Prasko scored 20 points to help Burgettstown down New Brighton, 54-25, in a Section 1-AA game.
Kacie Prasko added 13 for the Blue Devils (3-2, 8-3), who led 27-13 at halftime.
New Brighton fell to 1-4 in the section, 2-9 overall.
Washington 50, Fort Cherry 22: Washington held Fort Cherry to single digits in each of the four quarters to come away with a 50-22 victory in a Section 1-AA.
Carly Allen and Randi Thomas each scored 13 points for the Prexies (3-2, 6-2). Torri Finley had seven points and seven rebounds.
Shannon Relihan and Mackenzie Garry each scored six points for Fort Cherry (2-3, 5-5).
Trinity 66, Uniontown 21: Trinity burst to a 25-4 after one quarter and rolled to a 66-21 win over Uniontown in a Section 3 game in Class 5-A.
Sierra Kotchman and Alayna Cappelli each scored 14 points to pace the Hillers (5-0, 11-1) and Jayme Britton added 13.
Kiera McCargo scored 12 for Uniontown (2-2, 3-7).
Peters Township 42, Upper St. Clair 34: Makenna Marisa scored 13 points to push Peters Township to a 42-34 victory over Upper St. Clair in a Section 3 game in Class 6-A.
Lillian Young added 12 for the Indians (3-0, 8-3), who led 19-12 at halftime.
Kate Groninger had 11 for USC (0-3, 1-10).
California 52, Carmichaels 22: Jenna Miller had a double-double, 14 points and 10 rebounds, to lead California to a 52–2 victory over Carmichaels in a Section 3-AA game.
Bailey Vig led all scorers with 20 points, including four three-point field goals. Vig also had seven rebounds. Love’ Porter scored eight points and Dominique Gaston added seven. Marissa Bitonti grabbed eight rebounds.
Kristina Aeschbacher led Carmichaels with 8 points.
Belle Vernon 57, Mt. Pleasant 48: Kelsey Green. scored 12 points, had eight steals, and five assists to help Belle Vernon repel Mt. Pleasant in a Section 3 game in Class 4-A;
Caitlyn Szakal added 11 points for the Leopards. Colleen Trainer had 11 for Mt. Pleasant.
Geibel defeated Jefferson-Morgan, 40-35 in Section 2-A; Greensburg Central Catholic downed Bentworth, 94-18, in Section 3-A; Ringgold stopped Laurel Highlands, 46-42, in a Section 3 game in Class 5-A; and South Fayette defeated Lincoln Park, 71-26.
