Everette sparks Charleroi to victory

Dremar Everette scored a team-high 24 points Wednesday night as Charleroi defeated Waynesburg, 77-56, in a non-section game that was rescheduled from earlier in the season.

Taking a 35-27 lead into halftime, Charleroi (9-7, 4-2) outscored Waynesburg in each of the four quarters as three other players joined Everette in double figures. Sam Miceli scored 13 points, while Cameron Carter and Errict Tedrow each had 10 points.

Waynesburg (1-14, 0-7) was paced by Darton McIntire who scored a game-high 33 points with four three-pointers.

Moon 48, Trinity 44: After jumping out to an early 13-5 lead in the first quarter, Moon failed to surrender it’s lead as it defeated Trinity, 48-44, in a non-section game at Hiller Hall.

Despite trailing by 12 points at halftime, 29-17, Trinity (8-7) nearly came back to get the win, outscoring Moon by four points in both the third and fourth quarters.

Moon (10-3) was led by senior Nick Castelveter’s 16 points.

Three players reached double-digits for the Hillers as Jaden Nelson had 13 points, Joey Koroly had 12 and Ben Phillis scored 10.

Girls results

Washington 55, Monessen 11: Carly Allen led Washington with a game-high 12 points as the Prexies defeated Monessen, 55-11, in a non-section game at Monessen High School.

Washington (7-7, 3-4) got off to a fast start by only allowing one field goal from the Greyhounds in the first half to take a 32-3 lead into halftime.

Freshman guard Randi Thomas also scored in double-digits for the Prexies with 11 points.

Monessen (0-17, 0-5) was paced by five points from Qitarah Hardison, who had two of the Greyhounds four field goals.

In other games:

South Fayette’s boys team was a 55-43 winner over visiting Steel Valley, Serra Catholic defeated Bentworth 76-61 and Belle Vernon edged Thomas Jefferson 66-54. All three games were nonsection contests. No details were made available to the Observer-Reporter.
