Boys basketball roundup: Rush, Weaver pull inside job for West Greene
Seniors Kolton Rush and Craig Weaver dominated play on the inside in the second half Thursday night and West Greene pulled away for an impressive 79-51 victory over visiting Frazier in a nonsection contest.
West Greene (9-4), which has won four in a row, led 29-24 at halftime before breaking the game open with 49 second-half points. Rush and Weaver led the way, each producing a double-double. Rush scored a game-high 27 points and 10 rebounds, while Weaver followed with 25 points and dominated on the glass with 20 rebounds.
Nathan Brudnock also scored in double with 16 points for the Pioneers.
Frazier (4-11) was led by Jay Novak’s 15 points.
First Love 89, Central Tech 55: Christian Bentley had 23 points, six rebounds and five assists to lead First Love Christian Academy to an 89-55 victory over Central Tech in Erie.
David Collins also had a big game for First Love (11-2), scoring 21 points.
Central Tech’s record is 6-7.
