Wild Things start season with 9-1 victory

CRESTWOOD, Ill. – Catcher Kyle Pollock drove in four runs and pitchers Trevor Foss and Brian O’Keefe combined on a three-hitter as the Wild Things opened the Frontier League season with a 9-1 victory over the Windy City ThunderBolts at Standard Bank Stadium Friday night.
Pollock went 3-for-4 with two doubles. He had a two-run double during Washington’s three-run sixth inning that broke a 1-1 tie.
The Wild Things broke the game open in the seventh when they scored five runs and sent nine batters to the plate.
Foss (1-0) pitched seven strong innings allowing only two hits, two walks and one unearned run. He struck out six.
Windy City’s only run was scored in the first when the ThunderBolts took advantage of a three-base error to start the inning. After a popup, Windy City’s Tim Zier hit an RBI single.
Washington made it 1-1 in the second as Kane Sweeney walked and scored on a double by Pollock.
Kenny Peoples-Walls gave Washington a 2-1 lead in the sixth with a sacrifice fly and Pollock followed with his two-run double. Bralin Jackson had a two-run single in the seventh.
