Culberson sparks Fort Cherry over Mapletown as Rush sits
MAPLETOWN – Ryhan Culberson returned a punt for a touchdown, ran for a score and threw two scoring passes – all in the first half – and Fort Cherry rolled to a 42-0 victory over host Mapletown in the Tri-County South Conference.
The win clinches a playoff berth for Fort Cherry (4-1, 6-1), which has won five in a row.
Mapletown (1-5, 2-6) was without running back Dylan Rush, who leads the WPIAL in rushing yards. Rush left a game last week against Jefferson-Morgan in the fourth quarter and did not play against the Rangers.
Culberson returned a punt 69 yards for a touchdown less than two minutes into the game. He also ran 13 yards for a score and hit Noah Babirad for a 54-yard TD pass before the first quarter ended with FC leading 21-0 lead.
Zach Vincenti had TD runs of eight and five yards in the second quarter, and Culberson connected with Nate Higham on a 31-yard score with 1:41 left in the first half to make it 42-0.
Zachary Greene was Mapletown’s leading rusher with 44 yards on eight carries.
