Girls soccer roundup: Waynesburg perfect in section; tie eliminates Trinity, Ringgold

Rhea Kijowski scored three times and added two assists to help Waynesburg rout McGuffey, 9-0, in a Section 3-AA match Monday night.

The win moved Waynesburg’s section record to 12-0, the first time in program history the Raiders have gone undefeated in the section. Waynesburg is 16-1 overall.

Madison Clayton had three goals and an assist, Kaley Pell had two goals and Michele Culp-Astin one. Mckenzie Booth made four saves.

McGuffey is 2-9-1 and 3-11-1.

• Trinity and Ringgold battled to a 0-0 double-overtime tie at Hiller Field in Section 3-AAA.

The tie, along with Oakland Catholic’s 2-0 win over Obama Academy, eliminates both the Hillers (5-7-2, 8-7-2) and Rams (5-7-2, 6-8-2) from playoff contention. Oakland Catholic (6-8, 6-10) finishes fourth in the section and gains the final postseason berth.

• Bree Latsko had a hat trick to propel Peters Township toa 7-2 win over Allderdice in a nonsection match.

Caitlyn Ulrich had two goals andHannah Stuck had a goal and three assists. Kaila McFerran added a goal for PT (14-3). Allderdice fell to 10-5-1.

• Jocelyn Timlin scored three goals and playoff-bound Bentworth cruised to a 6-0 victory over Beth-Center in the Section 2-A finale on the Bearcats’ field.

Timlin passed Erin Ritzer and moved into second place on Bentworth’s all-time goals list with 55.

Paige Marshalek, Rori Schreiber and Meghan Cicci also scored goals for Bentworth, which finishes 9-2-1 and in second place in the section. The Bearcats are 11-4-1 overall.

Marshalek’s tally was her 50th career goal and moves her into fourth place on the Bearcats’ all-time list.

Goalkeeper Candee Kossel had her seventh shutout of the season.

Beth-Center finished the season at 2-8-2 in section and 2-9-2 overall.

• Brenna McGuire and Rachel Weis combined for four goals as South Fayette defeated Central Valley 4-1 in the Section 4-AAA finale.

The Lions finished 8-5-1 in the section and 10-5-3 overall.

McGuire and Weis each scored two goals as Central Valley finished the year at 2-11-1 and 3-13-1.
