Wild Things’ 2018 schedule released
The Washington Wild Things will open their 17th season with a road series at Evansville’s historic Bosse Field and play their home opener on a Tuesday night, the Frontier League revealed when it released its 2018 schedule Monday morning.
Washington will open the season with a weekend series May 11-13 at Evansville before playing its home opener Tuesday, May 14 against the Gateway Grizzlies.
All 12 teams from this past season are returning for 2018, putting to rest rumors that the independent league would be trimmed to as few as 10 teams. The division alignment remains the same with Washington in the East along with Lake Erie, Traverse City, Windy City, Joliet and defending league champion Schaumburg.
This will be the third consecutive season Washington will open with a road series.
The Wild Things are scheduled to play only one home doubleheader, Wednesday, May 23, against the Southern Illinois Miners. Other schedule highlights include an 11:05 a.m. game Wednesday, June 27 against Windy City. It will be the first morning start at Wild Things Park since 2015.
The Frontier League All-Star Game will be played July 11 at Car Shield Field in O’Fallon, Mo., home of the River City Rascals.
