Girls soccer: Bentworth bounces back, wins 9-0
After a 2-0 loss to Laurel Highlands earlier in the day, Bentworth scored three goals in the first three minutes and defeated Albert Gallatin 9-0 Saturday.
Jocelyn Timlin and Rori Schreiber led the Bearcats with three goals apiece. Paige Marshalek also had two goals and Lindsay Davis tallied another.
• Pitt recruit Madison Clayton score four goals and Waynesburg defeated Quaker Valley 6-1 in the South Fayette tournamnet.
The other two goals for the Raiders came from Jillian Kijowksi and Kaley Pell. Both Kijowksi and Pell had an assist.
Rhea Kijowski also had three assists for Waynesburg.
• South Fayette’s Breanna McGuire and Sara Meindl scored both goals as it defeated Waynesburg 2-1. Clayton was the only goal scorer for Waynesburg after receiving a pass from Rhea Kijowski.
• Isabella Laurita scored three goals and Lexi Demko recorded four assists as Belle Vernon defeated West Mifflin 6-0 in the Belle Vernon Tournament.
Karter Temoshenka also scored for the Leopards.
• After falling behind 2-0 early, Peters Township’s Hannah Stuck scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the 21st minute as the Indians defeated State College 4-2 in the South Hills Classic.
Stuck finished with two goals, and teammates Regan Lavigna and Bree Latsko had the other tallies.
• Goalkeeper Kasey Scears made nine saves as Chartiers-Houston defeated Carlynton 2-0 in the Bucs’ tournament. Alyssa Wright and Brooke Bell scored for the Bucs.
