Boys soccer roundup: Viveros’ OT goal keeps Canon-McMillan undefeated
Chris Viveros’ goal with 1:33 remaining in the second overtime Tuesday night gave undefeated Canon-McMillan a 2-1 victory over host Upper St. Clair in the Section 2-AAAA opener for both teams.
Canon-McMillan (1-0, 4-0) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Brandon Byer less than three minutes into the match, but USC tied the score early in the second half.
• Matt Bucha scored on a penalty kick midway into the second half to give Chartiers-Houston a 2-1 victory over Monessen in a Section 4-A game Tuesday.
Austin Arnold also score for C-H.
The lone goal for Monessen was scored by Cory Fleming.
• Wyatt Selvoski recorded a hat trick to lead Bentworth over Brentwood, 5-2, in a Section 4-A game.
Blaine Fowler and Jake Davis also scored for Bentworth (2-1, 4-2). Davis also had three assists for the Bearcats.
Lucas Ivers and Jim Cavanaugh each scored for Brentwood.
• Andrew Allender scored three goals as McGuffey defeated Charleroi 4-1 in a Section 3-AA match.
Nate Witkowsky also netted a goal for McGuffey (2-1, 2-3).
The lone goal for Charleroi (2-1, 3-3) was scored by Collin Wyotovich.
• Bryce Gabelhart and Logan Brinksy each scored two goals as Peters Township defeated Baldwin 5-0 in Section 2-AAAA game.
Luke Kelly also scored for PT (4-0-1).
• Waynesburg received goals from three different players and was a 3-1 winner over visiting Southmoreland in Section 3-AA. Gavin Benson, Blake Brewer and Jared Hogue each scored for the Raiders, who improved to 1-1 in section and 2-3 overall.
