Washington’s defense saves day against Frazier

PERRYOPOLIS – Washington rode two first-half touchdowns and a strong defensive effort to a 12-0 victory against winless Frazier in a Century Conference game Friday night.

Nick Welsh scored on a first-quarter run and Isaiah Schoonmaker caught a 37-yard pass from Zack Swartz in the second quarter for the other score.

Washington (3-0, 4-0) held Frazier (0-4, 0-5) to only six first downs and 74 total yards but hurt itself with 10 penalties for 115 yards. The Prexies had 347 total yards.

Welsh ran for 167 yards on 27 carries and Swartz threw for 107 yards. Schoonmaker caught three passes for 81 yards.
