Fort Cherry freshman right-handed pitcher Lane Miller fired a no-hitter as the Rangers continued to stay near the top of Section 1-AA with a 5-0 victory at Bentworth Monday afternoon.

Miller struck out seven and issued only two walks as Fort Cherry improved its records to 6-2, both in the section and overall.

The Rangers gave their young pitcher all the runs he would need in the second inning, when they scored three times. Fort Cherry scored two insurance runs in the fifth.

A two-run double by Mark Permigiani was the only extra-base hit of the game.

• Koby Bubash hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning – one of three homers hit by Ringgold – to give the Rams an 8-6 come-from-behind victory over Keystone Oaks in Section 3-AAAA.

KO (4-5, 5-5) led 6-1 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Ringgold (7-1, 8-1) started its comeback, pushing across two runs. In the sixth, Bo Haines led off with a home run to trim the KO lead to 6-4.

An error and the second double of the game by Bob Boyer put runners on second and third with no outs, and a sacrifice fly pulled Ringgold to within one run of the Golden Eagles., Chase Angotti was then hit by a pitch and Bubash smacked the first pitch of his at-bat for the game-winning three-run homer.

Winning pitcher Luke Winterbottom did not allow an earned run over 32/3 innings of relief.

Ringgold’s win, combined with Belle Vernon’s loss to South park, moves Ringgold into sole possession of first place in the section. The Rams and Leopards play Friday at Ringgold.

• Kevin Vaupel threw a five-hitter and belted a home run to power visiting South Park to an 11-1 victory in six innings over Belle Vernon in Section 3-AAAA.

Seth Jones doubled and drove in four runs for South Park (3-5, 8-6). Vaupel threw a five-hitter and struck out seven. Belle Vernon (6-2, 6-2) had chances as the Leopards drew three walks and South Park committed two errors but Belle Vernon left seven runners on base.

• Dylan Wilson drove in five runs, Gavin Pratt hit a home run and four Carmichaels pitchers combined on a two-hitter as the Mikes remained one of the hottest teams in the area with a 14-3 victory over host Beth-Center in Section 1-AA.

Carmichaels (7-1, 7-2) sits in first place in the section. The Mikes have won seven in a row. Beth-Center fell to the .500 mark at 3-3 in the section and 4-4 overall.

Wilson went 4-for-5 with two doubles and the five RBI to lead the Mikes at the plate. Pratt, the Mikes’ leadoff hitter, was 3-for-4 with a home run, double, three runs and three RBI. Nathan Broadwater and Stephen Spehar each hit a double.

Pitchers Logan Mayhle, Matthew Barrish, Wilson and Jacob Hair held the Bullodgs’ offense in check, combining for nine strikeouts.

• Nolan Thompson pitched five strong innings and Peters Township scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull away for a 10-3 victory over Allderdice in Class 6A Section 3.

The win evened PT’s record at 4-4 in the section and 7-7 overall.

Allderdice (0-7, 0-7) led 2-0 in the first inning but Peters Township took the lead for good with a four-run second. That was enough for Thompson and reliever Mark Edeburn, who combined on a five-hitter.

Kyle Comini doubled and drove in three runs for the Indians and Dax Ploskina had a double and two RBI. Joe Ehland had two hits, including a triple, and Jackson McCloskey also tripled.

• Luke Robinson pitched 6 2/3 innings of no-hit ball as Waynesburg downed Seton-La Salle 5-1 in a Section 3-AAA game.

Robinson had to be removed because he reached his pitch count. Seton-La Salle then got a single and a run before the final out. Robinson struck out 9 and walked 2.

Kyle Blasco went 2-for-4 with a double, single and RBI for the Raiders (4-2, 5-2). Kyle Shriver went 3-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI. Brandon Turcheck went 3-for-3.

• Logan Rhodes doubled and drove in 3 runs to propel Jefferson-Morgan to a 17-0 win over Geibel in a Section 2-A game.

Zack Gamble doubled and drove in 2 runs and also combined with Jake Broadwater on 3 hitless innings for the Rockets (4-2, 5-2). Broadwater, Kyle Clayton and Justin Maddish also doubled.

Geibel fell to 0-6 and 0-6.

• Christian Gable doubled twice and drove in 4 runs to help send South Fayette to a 16-0 victory over Ambridge in a 3-inning game in Section 2 of Class 4A.

Richie Dell went 2-for-3 and drove in 3 runs for the Lions (5-2, 5-2). Ryan Kokoski doubled, went 3-for-3 and drove in 2 runs and Tyler Bedillion tripled, drove in2 and scored twice.

Ambridge fell to 0-8 and 0-8.

• McGuffey’s Adam Blacharczyk and Elizabeth Forward’s Beau Morgan hooked up in a fine pitchers’ duel with EF coming out on top, 3-1, in Section 3-AAAA.

Morgan threw a three-hit complete game. He struck out 10, did not issue a walk and hit one batter. Blacharczyk countered with a five-hitter. He struck out two and walked only one.

McGuffey (1-6, 3-8) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when Bobby Fleischauer and Blacharczyk each doubled. EF (1-7, 4-9), which snapped an eight-game losing streak, responded with two runs in the bottom of the first. The only other run in the game was scored by EF in the sixth.

• Burgettstown’s bullpen closed the game with five shutout innings, Ryan Lounder hit a tiebreaking double in the fifth inning and Burgettstown rallied for a 10-7 victory over visiting Frazier in Section 1-AA

It was the second win over Frazier (1-5, 2-6) in three days for Burgettstown (3-5, 4-5), which fell behind 7-1 in the second inning.

The Blue Devils scored two runs in the bottom of the second and tied the score at 7-7 with a four-run third. Lounder’s two-out double scored Cole Strain and gave Burgettstown an 8-7 lead. The Blue Devils tacked on two more runs in the sixth.

Jon Baronick pitched 5 2/3 innings to get the win and Strain earned a save. Frazier did not score after the second inning.

• Undefeated West Allegheny scored in only two innings but defeated host Trinity 9-1 in Class 5A Section 2.

West Allegheny (7-0, 7-0) scored four runs in the first and five in the fourth. The Indians used five pitchers who combined on a three-hitter and held Trinity (1-5, 1-6) scoreless after the first inning. The Hillers scored early on an RBI double by Tanner Hudak.

Shea Downing doubled and drove in three for West Allegheny.

• Section 2-A leader Greensburg Central Catholic gave up the game’s first two runs but dominated thereafter, cruising to a 17-2 four-inning victory over visiting Mapletown.

Mapletown (2-5, 2-7) forged a 2-0 lead in the top of the first before GCC (6-0, 6-2) broke the game open with a 10-run bottom of the second.

Antonio Cavallo was 3-for-3 with three doubles and four RBI to lead GCC’s 11-hit attack.

Ethan Carter doubled and Dylan Rush had a single and three stolen bases for Mapletown.

• Monessen used a strong outing from starting pitcher Tyler Caterino and a four-run fourth inning to beat host West Greene, 5-1, in Section 2-A.

Monessen moved up to the .500 mark at 3-3 in the section and 4-4 overall. West Greene is 2-4, 2-4.

Caterino struck out six as the Greyhounds held West Greene scoreless into the seventh. The Pioneers were limited to four singles.

Vin Rhome’s double for Monessen was the only extra-base hit of the game.

• Jimmy Sadler went 3-for-3 with an RBI, Matt Whitfield had a pair of hits and Chartiers-Houston scored nine runs in the sixth inning to defeat California, 14-5, in a Section 1-AA game.

The Bucs benefited on wild pitching and timely hitting in the sixth, as five players recorded a hit, four walked and two were hit by a pitch that gave them a 13-5 lead. C-H was trailing 5-4 entering the inning.

Brandon Powell was the only player for California (5-3, 5-4) with a multi-hit game.

Destin Weiser went 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored twice for Chartiers-Houston (5-3, 6-4).

Austin Kuslock pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up only one hit in relief to earn the win for the Bucs.

• Washington starting pitcher Jarrod West allowed only two hits and struck out seven to lead the Prexies to a 7-3 victory over Southmoreland in Section 3-AAA.

West excelled both on the mound and at the plate, going 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Jordan Swart had a pair of hits and drove in a run for Washington (3-4, 4-7). Ian McNaught singled in a pair of runs for the Prexies.

Southmoreland is 0-7 in the section and 0-10 overall.
