WAYNESBURG – Rachel Eng and Erin Joyce each scored 17 points as Waynesburg University defeated Westminster 86-71 in the opening round of the PAC women’s basketball tournament Monday night at Rudy Marisa Fieldhouse.

The win advances fifth-seeded Waynesburg (15-11) to the quarterfinals Wednesday night at fourth-seeded Grove City.

Westminster’s season ends with a 7-19 record. The Titans had a strong start and led 16-10 late in the first quarter. However, Waynesburg freshman Andrea Orlosky managed to beat the buzzer on a three-pointer that cut the deficit to 16-13.

Orlosky’s basket was the first of four consecutive three-pointers by Waynesburg that turned a six-point deficit into a six-point lead. The Yellow Jackets never trailed for the remainder of the game and led by as many as 19 points.

Waynesburg did much of its damage from long range, making 14 of 27 three-point attempts. Joyce led the way with five three-pointers.

Eng was 8-for-9 from the field. Mackenna Drazich scored 15 points and Orlosky finished with 12 off the bench.

Monica Starre scored six points, had 10 assists and tied for the game lead with eight rebounds.
