Michael Zolnierczyk sank four free throws, two in the final 14 seconds to secure a 34-33 victory by Springdale over California in a WPIAL Boys Class AA Playoff game at North Hills Tuesday.

Zolnierczyk hit two free throws with 1:36 to play to give the Dynamos (13-8) a 32-31 lead.

But California (13-9) got a field goal from Colin Phillips to put the Trojans up 33-32 with 18 seconds left. Zolnierczyk was fouled going to the basket and sank both.

Phillips got a shot off at the buzzer that banged off the rim.

California, playing without Ben Wilson, lost for the third consecutive time in the first round of the playoffs.

Zolnierczyk finished with 18 points.

Ryan led Cal with 16 points and Dru Miller added 10. The Trojans trailed 16-8 at halftime.
