Pirates fall to Yankees, sign Siegrist
BRADENTON, Fla. – New York newcomer Brandon Drury singled in his first at-bat, then was hit by a pitch in the left hand his next time up. Drury, acquired this week from Arizona in a three-team trade, stayed in the game at third base.
Gregory Polanco homered and singled for Pittsburgh.
Right-handed pitching prospect Nick Kingham started for the Pirates. He allowed a pair of singles and struck out two in two innings.
Michael Feliz, acquired in a trade with Houston in the offseason, made his spring debut for the Pirates in the fifth inning. He struck out the side in order. Fellow newcomer Kyle Crick then worked around a single to pitch a scoreless sixth inning.
Pittsburgh announced it signed left-handed reliever Kevin Siegrist to a minor league contract. Siegrist, 28, had a 1- record and 4.81 ERA in 46 games split between St. Louis and Philadelphia last season. he has pitched in 276 major-league games in his five-year career.
