Trinity’s Jeff Ecker is swarmed Friday night by Albert Gallatin’s Matt Rankin (23), James Peggues (15) and Colby Uphold.

Trinity had one of its most impressive outings of the season, outscoring Albert Gallatin, 48-30, in the second half and coming away with an 85-58 victory in a Section 1 game in Class 5A at Hiller Hall.

The victory moves the Hillers to 12-3 overall and 6-1 in the section and sets up a showdown with McKeesport (5-1, 7-6) Tuesday for first place in the section.

Trinity entered the fourth quarter with a 54-38 lead and erupted for 31 points.

Joey Koroly went 13-for-13 from the free throw line in the final eight minutes and finished with 23 points. The Hillers went 27-for-31 as a team from the free throw line. The 27 made free throws were the most this season. Albert Galatin finished 11 of 25 from the free throw line.

Koroly was one of two Trinity plays to record double doubles, adding 10 assists to his 23 points. Zach Ecker tossed in a career-high 27 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. One of his biggest baskets came on an alley-oop pass from Dylan Kern at the beginning of the fourth quarter that thrilled the crowd. Kern finished with 13 points.

Nate Bricker scored 18 points for Albert Gallatin (3-3, 7-6), which trailed 37-28 at halftime.
