No. 23 Michigan shoots down Rutgers
Moe Wagner scored 16 points and Duncan Robinson added 12 to lift No. 23 Michigan to a 62-47 victory over Rutgers Sunday.
The Wolverines (17-5, 6-3 Big Ten) rebounded from a 20-point loss at Nebraska on Thursday, taking the lead for good with a 13-0 run in the first half. Both teams shot well under 50 percent from the field, but this Michigan team is more capable of winning with defense than in the past.
Corey Sanders scored 12 points for Rutgers (12-9, 2-6), and Deshawn Freeman added 11 points and 11 rebounds. Freeman also had the only assist of the game for Rutgers, which finished with 13 turnovers.
Louisville 77, Boston College 69: Deng Adel had all 18 points and 10 rebounds after halftime, including a late free throw that helped Louisville hold off Boston College 77-69 for its fourth consecutive victory.
The Cardinals’ 12-2 surge just after the break propelled them to a 46-33 lead that eventually reached 18 with 3:57 remaining. The Eagles weren’t done and stormed back within 71-69 on Jordan Chatman’s 3 with 33 seconds left. After King’s two free throws made it a four-point game, Chatman’s long-range attempt bounced off the rim and out of bounds.
No. 25 Miami 86, NC State 81: Bruce Brown Jr. scored 19 points and No. 25 Miami shot 58 percent to hold off North Carolina State 86-81.
Anthony Lawrence II and Ebuka Izundu each had 15 points for the Hurricanes (14-4, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference). Miami led the entire second half but struggled to put the Wolfpack away in a game that came down to the final seconds.
Minnesota 77, No. 20 Iowa: Kenisha Bell scored 21 points, Carlie Wagner added 15, combining for six free throws in the final 25 seconds, and Minnesota handed No. 20 Iowa its third straight loss 77-72.
Taiye Bello had 12 points, and Destiny Pitts and Bryanna Fernstrom 11 each for the Golden Gophers (16-5, 5-3 Big Ten Conference).
