Pacman attacked
at Atlanta airport
Police said Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones was attacked during a run-in with a facility-service employee at the airport in Atlanta.
Atlanta Police spokesman Jarius Daugherty said Jones confronted ABM Industries employee Frank Ragin after Ragin made a “gesture” toward the football player Tuesday night at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Police say words were exchanged before Ragin struck Jones with a closed fist, causing a cut to Jones’ face.
Daugherty said at some point during the fight, Ragin ended up hitting a woman who was with Jones, injuring her hand. He said Jones defended himself and pushed Ragin to the ground.
Jones and his friend declined medical treatment.
Ragin was arrested on two counts of battery and taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries.

Ready Any Time was set to her task in mid-stretch and responded, just holding off the relentless charge of Barn Girl to capture Wednesday’s $18,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows in a career-best 1:53.
Ready Any Time vaulted to the front from post 5 for Dave Palone but soon faced the first-over challenge of Barn Girl, who was seeking her fourth straight victory. When Palone asked her for more, the 5-year-old daughter of Kadabra-Spice Queen found it, edging Barn Girl by a head, with Bessie third. Ron Burke trains Ready Any Time, who lifted her lifetime bankroll to $161,513, for Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC.
Palone, harness racing’s all-time “winningest” driver, enjoyed a big day with six victories, including one each for trainers Randy Bendis, Scott Betts, Gerald Lee, Jr., Dirk Simpson, Leslie Zendt and Burke. Jim Pantaleano fashioned a triple on the 13-race card.
Florida to honor Tebow
Two-time national champion and 2007 Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow will be inducted into Florida’s ring of honor, becoming the sixth player to receive the honor.
The school announced Wednesday that Tebow will be recognized during the LSU-Florida game on Oct. 6. His name will be unveiled on a wall inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.
The display will now feature Tebow and the other five members of the program’s ring of honor: linebacker Wilber Marshall, running back Emmitt Smith, 1966 Heisman winner and famed coach Steve Spurrier, 1996 Heisman winner Danny Wuerffel and defensive end Jack Youngblood.
Tebow went 35-6 in four seasons (2006-09) at Florida, finishing with a Southeastern Conference-record 170.8 career pass efficiency rating. He left college with 28 school records, 14 conference marks and five NCAA records.
Tebow says “I know in my heart that I truly couldn’t have done it without amazing coaches and teammates who loved and sacrificed for each other so that we could accomplish our goals.”
Sagan wins Tour stage
For the second time in this year’s Tour de France, Peter Sagan has beaten Sonny Colbrelli in a sprint finish.
As opposed to the flatter Stage 2, his Stage 4 victory came at the conclusion of the race’s first hilly route Wednesday.
Greg Van Avermaet took advantage of an intermediate bonus sprint to add two seconds to his overall lead, ahead of BMC teammate Tejay van Garderen.
Race favorite Chris Froome crossed safely in the main pack.
Sagan, the three-time reigning world champion, clocked nearly five hours over the challenging leg through Brittany, which contained five categorized climbs over a 204.5-kilometer (127-mile) route from Lorient to Quimper.
Belgian rider Philippe Gilbert, a former world champion, was third and moved up to third overall.
Froome trails Van Avermaet by 57 seconds in 15th spot.
