The Washington Wild Things scored six runs in the top of the third inning to propel them to a 7-3 victory Sunday and a sweep of Traverse City. It was their fourth sweep this season and first on the road.

In the third inning, second baseman Carter McEachern had a bases-loaded double, scoring first baseman Reydel Medina, third baseman Mike Hill, and catcher Kyle Pollock. Left fielder Roman Collins and Hill each had an RBI double earlier in the inning. Designated hitter Conner Simonetti added an RBI single to put Washington up 6-1.

Traverse City took a 1-0 lead in the first when catcher Kendall Patrick singled in designated hitter Alexis Rivera and the Beach Bums added another in the sixth when centerfielder Connor Oliver drove in first baseman Luke Lowery with a double.

Traverse City cut Washington’s lead to 6-3 in the eighth, when Patrick singled in Lowery to cut the deficit to 6-3.

Washington added an insurance run in the top of the ninth when Collins hit a one-out home run over the right field wall. Washington starter Thomas Dorminy (8-4) lasted 7 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs, striking out six and walking one. Luke DeVenny (0-2) took the loss.

Washington (36-30) heads home to host Normal for a three-game series starting Tuesday at 7:05 p.m.
