Medina leads Wild Things over Windy City

CRESTWOOD, Ill. – Reydel Medina hit a pair of two-run homers and the Wild Things defeated the Windy City Thunderbolts 8-1 in the series finale Sunday afternoon at Standard Bank Stadium.
Medina went 4-for-5 with four RBI to lead the offensive effort for Washington. The Wild Things collected 13 hits and scored three runs in the first and fifth innings to take a 6-0 lead.
Washington starting pitcher Chase Cunningham (1-2) coasted with the early advantage, allowing only three hits and one run through six innings. It was the third straight game Cunningham lasted until at least the sixth.
The lone run from Windy City came in the sixth inning on a double from Larry Balkwill that scored Tyler Straub.
Zac Westcott (0-4) suffered the loss for the Thunderbolts after giving up six runs on eight hits through five innings. He walked five batters.
Brett Marr went 3-for-6 and scored twice for the Wild Things.
Hector Roa also homered for Washington.
