Sites set for PIAA semifinals

The high school softball teams from West Greene and Monessen will meet for the fourth time this season.

And the stakes could not be higher.

The two teams will play in the PIAA Class A semifinals at 2 p.m., Monday at Peterswood Park. The winner plays for the state title Thursday at Penn State.

West Greene, the defending Class A state champion, has won two of three.

In Class 4A baseball, Ringgold will travel to Slippery Rock Monday for a 6:30 p.m. game against Meadville, the third-place finisher in District 3. The gold medal game is 3:30 p.m., Thursday at Penn State.

WPIAL champion Canon-McMillan will travel to Greene Township Park in Scotland for a 4:30 p.m. game against District 1 runner-up Council Rock North in the Class 6A baseball semifinals.

Scotland is five miles northeast of Chambersburg.

The final is at 6:30 p.m., Thursday at Penn State.
