Wild Things wallop Gateway

Kyle Pollock and Roman Collins combined for three home runs, eight runs and 10 RBI as the Washington Wild Things drilled Gateway, 19-10, in Frontier League action Tuesday night at GCS Ballpark.
It was the eighth straight victory and ninth in the last 10 for the first-place Wild Things (19-9). Gateway fell to 13-16.
The two teams combined for 29 runs, 31 hits and eight home runs. Washington had five of them as Hector Roa and Mike Hill also cleared the outfield fences.
Pollock and Collins had nearly identical linescores. Collins went 3-for-6, 4 runs and 5 RBI and Pollock went 3-for-5 with 4 runs and 5 RBI. Pollock hit two home runs, giving him 7 this season. Collins hit his fifth.
Washington led 10-0 after two innings, 14-4 after 5 1/2 and 14-9 after six innings. The top four hitters for Washington went a combined 12-for-18 with 13 runs and 11 RBI.
The Wild Things pounded Gateway starter Dakota Smith for 10 runs, all earned, in 1 1/3 innings. Reliever Grant Black allowed 3 runs in 4 2/3 innings and Colt Freeman was hammered for 5 runs in the seventh. Frank Trimarco got the win, despite allowing 4 runs in 5 innings.
Blake Brown, Justin Ellison and Joel McKeithan each hit a home run for Gateway.
