Hot streak continues for Wild Things

The offensive theatrics continue for the Washington Wild Things.
One day after scoring 19 runs, the Wild Things routed Gateway, 18-13, in a Frontier League game Wednesday afternoon.
It was the ninth win in a row and 10th out of the last 11 for the first-place Wild Things (20-9). After winning the series opener, 19-10, the Wild Things followed the effort up with a 17-hit attack that helped erase a 3-0 deficit after one inning.
Every player in the Washington starting lineup recorded a hit. Outfielder Roman Collins had another fine effort, driving in five runs to give him 10 RBI in the series.
Washington’s Chase Simmons went 4-for-5 with 3 RBI and 4 runs against his former team. Hector Roa hit his fourth home run, singled, drove in 2 runs and scored 3 in 5 at-bats. Carter McEachern went 2-for-7 with 3 RBI and a run and Kyle Pollock had 2 RBI.
Washington scored 7 runs in the second inning and added 5 more in the fifth to take a 17-8 lead but Gateway (13-17) scored 5 runs over the final two innings to make it close.
Collins singled home a run and the Wild Things also scored on an error and a groundout in the third, before scoring two more in the fourth on a pair of bases-loaded walks, one to Collins and one to Pollock. Collins now has 30 RBI this season.
The win went to reliever Aaron Burns, who threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Starter Chase Cunningham allowed eight runs over 3 2/3 innings. Gateway starting pitcher Dalton Shalberg took the loss, allowing seven runs over 1 1/3 innings.
