SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – As one streak ended Saturday for the Washington Wild Things, another streak was extended.

Wild Things closer Zach Strecker entered Saturday’s game at Schaumburg on a 20 2/3-inning scoreless streak, and the Things were looking to end a three-game skid.

Strecker (3-1) allowed a run – his first of the season – in the bottom of the ninth as the Things fell to Schaumburg 5-4 to lose their fourth straight game. Schaumburg’s Sean Godfrey hit the walkoff single to score Josh Gardiner, who led off the inning with a single.

With Schaumburg (20-17) leading 3-1 after six innings, Washington (23-15) scored one run in each of the last three innings.

Brett Marr singled in the seventh, Roman Collins homered in the eighth and Mike Hill scored the tying run in the ninth on a Marr sacrifice fly.

Washington’s Michael Austin and Schaumburg’s Keaton Conner both notched quality starts.

Mike Hill went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. James Harris went 2-for-4, raising his batting average to .356.

Strecker has now allowed one run in 21 innings, good for a 0.43 ERA.
