Wild Things top Schaumburg

A four-run second inning sparked the Washington Wild Things to a 6-2 victory over the Schaumburg Boomers in a Frontier League game Sunday.
The win moves first-place Washington’s record to 24-15. The Boomers slipped to 20-18, 31/2-games back of the Wild Things in the East Division.
Kyle Pollock started the four-run uprising in the second with a double and moved to third on a single by Reydel Medina.
Mike Hill singled in Pollock and Medina scored on a double by Jordan Edgerton. Brett Marr singled in Hill before Edgerton scored on a wild pitch.
Schaumburg scored two runs in the bottom of the third on an RBI-double by Jake Gardner and a groundout by Jack Parenty.
Washington added two runs in the top of the ninth when Hill walked, Edgerton singled, and one out later, James Harris drove them both in with a single.
The bottom three of the Wild Things batting order accounted for four runs, three hits and three RBI.
Chase Cunningham (2-2) pitched seven strong innings to pick up the win. He allowed only three hits and two runs, both earned. Washington has won its last five games in which Cunningham has gotten the start.
Davis Adkins pitched a 1-2-3 eighth with two strikeouts.
Will Stillman lasted 22/3 innings in his debut for Schaumburg, surrendering four runs and four of Washington’s eight hits. He also walked four.
