Pirates blank Blue Jays

1 min read

Pittsburgh’s Gregory Polanco and Adam Frazier homered for Pittsburgh as the Pirates shut out the Toronto Blue Jays 5-0 in Dunedin, Fla.

Starting pitcher Clay Holmes (2-0) gave up up one hit in three innings. He did not issue a walk. Holmes combined with five relief pitchers on a five-hit shutout.

The Pirates scored the only run they would need in the first inning when Frazier led off with a single and scored on Josh Bell’s sacrifice fly.

Toronto starter Joe Biagini gave up five runs on four hits and two walks in only 1 2/3 innings.
