Another challenge for Teasdale
Fresh from winning his fourth state title, Gavin Teasdale will get a chance to avenge a loss to Patrick Glory in the preseason “Who’s No. 1” tournament.
The two will meet in the Pittsburgh Wrestling Classic Sunday, March 25 at Pitt’s Fitzgerald Field House.
The WPIAL wrestles Iowa in the 4 p.m. preliminary and the United States takes on Pennsylvania at 6 p.m.
Teasdale became the 13th wrestler in PIAA history and the second from Jefferson-Morgan to win four state titles.
Cary Kolat was the seventh wrestler to win four.
Other local wrestlers competing are Logan Macri of Canon-McMillan, who will wrestle at 120 pounds for the Pennsylvania Team; Zach Hartman of Belle Vernon, who will be at 152 for the Pennsylvania Team; and Caleb Morris of Waynesburg, who will compete at 126 for the WPIAL Team.
Macri, coming off his first state title and has a 152-30 record, will wrestle Patrick McKee of St. Michael-Albertville, Minn., a 3-time state champion with a 183-14 record.
Hartman, a state runner-up with a 170-25 record, draws David Carr of Massillon, Ohio, who has a 243-7 record and is a 5-time state champion.
Morris, who has a 148-33 career mark, gets Drew Bennett of Fort Dodge, who has a 152-8 record.
