Pirates fall to Twins
The Pirates were limited to four hits and lost to Minnesota 3-1 in a spring training game Wednesday night in Fort Myers, Fla.
Four Twins’ pitchers, led by starter Jose Berrios, combined to strike out nine batters. Berrios lasted five innings, allowing three hits and one run.
Bucs starting pitcher Trevor Williams surrendered two runs, only one earned, over 5 1/3 and struck out eight.
The Piartes’ Starling Marte continued a successful spring, going 1-for-2 and scoring the lone run. Marte is hitting .410 this spring.
The Pirates also signed Korean shortstop prospect Ji-Hwan Bae.
Bae was property of Atlanta Braves organization before it was found of committing international signing violations.
