High school baseball: Canon-Mac wins 2 more in Florida

Canon-McMillan won a pair of games Sunday in Vero Beach, Fla., defeating Stevenson (Ill.) 14-1 in five innings and Loveland (Ohio) 12-2 in six innings.

The Biog Macs conclude their southern trip with a 3-0 record.

Against Stevenson, ranked among the top 5 teams in Illinois, Canon-McMillan scored 12 runs in the top of the first inning. The Big Macs had 12 hits, including a double and triple by Brandon Kline and a double and two singles byu winning pitcher Ian Hess.

Brandon Rea, Cam Weston and Nick Searfino each doubled for Canon-McMillan.

Hess struck out five and did not issue a walk.

The Big Macs scored six runs over the first three innings against Loveland and ended the game early with a five-run sixth.

Canon-McMillan had 10 hits, including nine singles. Greydon Piechnick’s triple was the lone extra-base hit.

Winning pitcher Corey Didier had two hits for C-M, as did Hess, Weston and Connor Flaherty.
