The Washington Wild Things rallied from a 6-run deficit by scoring 8 runs in the top of the fifth inning and went on to deal the Evansville Otters a 12-7 loss in the series finale Sunday in a Frontier League game.

Washington, now 2-1, trailed 7-1 after three innings but sent 14 batters to the plate, with the first 11 reaching base, in the process of scoring eight runs on eight hits to take a 9-7 lead.

Centerfielder James Harris, second baseman Carter McEachern and right fielder Hector Roa each drove in two runs in the inning.

The Wild Things added two runs in the seventh on catcher Kyle Pollock’s second home run of the season. Roa tripled to start the ninth and scored on a groundout by Reydel Medina to finish the scoring for Washington.

Pollock paced the Washington offense, going 3-for-3 with three RBI and two walks.

Caleb Eldridge hit a three-run home run and Toby Thomas a solo blast for Evansville (1-2).

Ryan Castellanos started for the Wild Things and surrendered seven runs in three innings before being lifted for Aaron Burns, who tossed four scoreless, getting the win.

The Wild Things have their home opener at 7 p.m., Tuesday against the Gateway Grizzlies.
