Lake Erie hangs 10 on Wild Things
AVON, Ohio – Three Lake Erie pitchers combined on as four-hit shutout and the Crushers used two big innings to defeat the Wild Things 10-0 Friday night at Sprenger Health Care Systems Stadium.
Alex Romero (1-1) allowed three hits over six innings. He walked three and struck out four. Romero was followed on the mound by Louis Cohen and Branden Nunn.
Lake Erie scored in only three innings, but they included a five-run third followed by a four-run fourth.
Washington starter Ryan Castellanos (0-1) gave up seven hits and eight runs (seven earned) in 3 1/3 innings.
Sean Hurley hit a two-run homer in in the third inning and Kevin LaChance added a three-run shot in the fourth, ending Castellanos’ outing. Hurley then greeted reliever Griffin Krieg with his second home run of the game and third of the season. Hurley was 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBI.
Mike Hill had two of Washington’s hits, including a double.
The three-game series resumes tonight.
