CLEVELAND – Drew Saxton passed for 327 yards and five touchdowns Saturday as Case Western Reserve rolled to a 41-17 victory over Waynesburg in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference football game.

The win keeps Case Western (7-1, 8-1) in the hunt for the conference title. The Spartans are tied with W&J for first place with one week remaining in the regular season.

Case broke a 10-10 tie by scoring on a nine-yard touchdown pass from Saxton to Justin Phan with 46 seconds left in the first half. The score sent Case Western on a run of 31 unanswered points.

Saxton, the freshman quarterback from South Fayette, completed 27 of 37 passes and threw TDs to five different receivers. Saxton also was Case’s leading rusher with 34 yards.

Waynesburg (4-4, 4-5) took a 3-0 lead on a 33-yard field goal by Garrett Guthrie in the first quarter and used a one-yard TD plunge by Zach Baughman in the second quarter to pull into a 10-10 tie.

The Yellow Jackets, however, did not score again until Tyler Perone tossed an 18-yard touchdown pass to Dorian Hardy with 7:19 left in the game. Perone completed 16 of 30 passes for 205 yards.
