Who to watch: The Cougars have one of the most explosive passing attacks in the WPIAL led by senior quarterback Geno Pelligrini, but Charleroi’s rushing game can’t be overlooked. Junior tailback Brayden Mihalcin leads the Cougars with 1,022 rushing yards and 15 total touchdowns. Pelligrini also has rushed for 675 yards, followed by 443 yards from senior Hunter Perry. The Warriors have had a multi-dimensional attack in 2018, led by senior quarterback Nick Wheeler (1,715 passing yards and 23 total touchdowns) and senior running back Braydon Cameron (1,632 rushing yards and 16 total touchdowns).
Noteworthy: After exercising their playoff demons last week with a 35-21 first round win over Riverside and ending their 20-year playoff drought, the Cougars will have no extra pressure. The Cougars have scored at least 27 points in each of their games this season. Their lowest scoring output was in a 28-27 loss to Beth-Center in Week 5. … In Mohawk’s nine wins, the Warriors averaged 33.3 points per game. But in their two losses, to Neshannock and Burgettstown, the Warriors only scored 16 combined points. … The Warriors went 1-17 in 2015 and 2016, before turning things around last year with a 5-4 mark and a first-round setback to East Allegheny. Mohawk picked up a 48-0 win last Friday over Seton-La Salle.
