Peters Township girls soccer back in action
Peters Township will continue its road in the PIAA Class 4A girls soccer tournament today when it travels to Chambersburg High School for a semifinal matchup with Souderton.
The match will kick off at 4:30 p.m.
PT will bring a record of 18-4 into the semifinals while Souderton, the District 1 runner-up, is 15-3-6.
After opening the state playoffs with a 2-0 triumph over Easton in the first round, Souderton edged WPIAL champion Seneca Valley in the quarterfinals, 2-1, winning on penalty kicks, 4-3. Seneca Valley defeated Peters Township, 2-1 in overtime, in the WPIAL finals at Highmark Stadium.
The road to the semifinals for PT has been a 3-1 victory over Erie McDowell in the first round and a 2-1 triumph over Cumberland Valley in the quarterfinals.
PT is trying for its fifth PIAA final appearance since 2003. The Indians won state titles in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
The other Class 4A semifinal pits District 3 runner-up Ephrata against Pennridge, the third-place team out of District 1. The Class 4A championship match will be held at Hersheypark Stadium Saturday at 4 p.m.
