AVELLA — Justin Towler scored on two long touchdown runs as Monessen broke open a close game in the second half and defeated Avella 30-0 to garner a share of the Tri-County South Conference championship.

Monessen (6-1, 7-2) finishes in a three-way tie for first place with California and West Greene. A coin flip Monday will decide the order of finish for playoff seeding.

Towler scored on runs of 33 and 52 yards, Isaiah Beltram caught a 24-yard TD pass from Devin Whitlock and Greg Adams capped the scoring with an eight-yard run.

Monessen held Avella to 78 total yards, including 58 on the ground by Frank Craig.
