Roman Collins is 4-for-8 in the series against Evansville with a key triple for the Wild Things.

The Wild Things have three chances to win one game and advance to the Frontier League championship series for the first time in more than a decade.

Washington leads its best-of-5 first-round playoff series against Evansville 2-0 after winning the first two games at the Otters’ historic Bosse Field.

Game 3 is tonight (7:05 p.m.) at Wild Things Park. Games 4 and 5, if necessary, will be played Saturday and Sunday, both in Washington.

Having three shots to win one game at home is the result of the Wild Things’ play in the first two games of the series. Washington used stellar pitching by starter Thomas Dorminy and relievers Jesus Balaguer and Zach Strecker, along with a three-run sixth inning, to win the opener, 4-1, Tuesday night.

Game 2 was more of a slugfest as Evansville erased an early deficit to take a 3-2 lead, but Washington scored five runs in the fourth inning and went on to an 8-4 victory. The big inning for the Wild Things included two triples, one by second baseman Carter McEachern and the other by right fielder Roman Collins with the bases loaded.

McEachern went 3-for-4 in Game 2 and Collins is 4-for-8 in the series with five RBI.

The Wild Things have listed Dillon Sunnafrank (1-0, 1.14) as their starting pitcher for Game 3. Tickets are $5 to sit anywhere in the ballpark and kids 12 and under enter for free.

Washington has not won a playoff series since 2007, when it defeated Gateway and advanced to the finals against Windy City. The Wild Things did win a one-game wild-card playoff in 2014 against Evansville.
