BETHANY, W.Va. – Waynesburg University opened the scoring with a touchdown, but Bethany, sparked by Raekwon Wright’s three touchdowns, pulled away for a 22-13 win in Presidents’ Athletic Conference football action Saturday night.

The Yellow Jackets (0-2, 0-3) took an early 7-0 lead after a 46-yard scoring run by quarterback Jake Dougherty at the 10:50 mark of the first quarter.

The Bisons (2-0, 2-1) responded with the next 16 points to close the first half with a nine-point lead.

Wright, Bethany’s tailback, had a pair of scores in the opening 30 minutes, a 39-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Dom Salinetro and a 5-yard rushing touchdown.

Sean Cole booted a 22-yard field goal to end the second quarter for Bethany.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Yellow Jackets trimmed the deficit to 16-13 after a 78-yard interception return by VaShon Graham with 7:48 left.

The Bison, however, responded with a 43-yard scoring run by Wright, who had 147 rushing yards, to secure the win three minutes later.

Chad Walker led Waynesburg with 63 rushing yards. Nick Moretti caught eight passes for 45 yards.
