West Greene 13, Monessen 0, 3 inn.: Jade Renner became the winningest pitcher in West Greene history in a 15-0, three-inning win over Monessen in a Section 2-A game. Renner won her 40th game, one more than Rachel Burns did before graduating in 2009.
West Greene improved to 3-3 overall and 2-0 in Section 2-A. McKenna Lampe was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Kaitlyn Rizor went 2-for-2, scored 3 runs and belted a triple with 2 RBI. Renner went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Katie Lampe scored 3 runs in the courtesy runner spot. Mackenzie Carpenter added a triple, and Kiley Meek went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI.
Hannah Yorty took the loss for Monessen, striking out 4, and had the lone Monessen hit, a triple to lead off the bottom of the first.
Washington 16, Avella 6: Washington scored 14 runs over the final three innings of a 16-6 six-inning win over Avella in a non-section game.
Sheridan Johnson homered and Kiersten Wormsley and Unique Livingston doubled for the Prexies (1-2).
Jessica Bauer doubled for Avella (0-2).
Baseball
West Greene 5, Jefferson-Morgan 4, 8 inn.: Ben Jackson doubled home Corey Wise in the bottom of the eighth inning to give West Greene a 5-4 win over Jefferson-Morgan in a Section 2-A game.
Jackson also hit a solo home run for the Pioneers (1-0, 3-10. Jordan Cooke doubled and Joe Reed tripled.
Losing pitcher Bryce Bedilion tripled for J-M (0-1, 0-4).
Bentworth 12, Mapletown 2, 5 inn.: Bentworth needed only five innings to down Mapletown 12-2 in a non-section game.
Jacob Kisner went 3-for-4 withe two runs and an RBI for Bentworth (3-3) and Mike Vittone went 2-for-3 and knocked in two.
Mapletown is 0-3.
Trinity 5, Albert Gallatin 2: A 5-run fifth was all Trinity needed to stop Albert Gallatin, 5-2, in a Section 3 game in Class 5A.
Four different players drove in a run for the Hillers (1-0, 5-3). Camden Zaken went 3-for-4 and A.D. Nelson and Forrest Havanis each had two hits. AG is 0-1, 1-2.
