Monessen 12, Jefferson-Morgan 8: Tyler Swann drove in three runs, two with a double in a four-run fourth to help pave the way for a 12-8 victory by Monessen over Jefferson-Morgan in a Section 2-A game.
Zach Evans had a two-run double in a three-run fourth for the Greyhounds (2-3, 2-7). Winning pitcher Vin Rhome struck out five.
Monessen held a 5-4 lead after three innings and 9-8 after five innings. The Greyhounds put the game away with three runs in the top of the sixth.
Kyle Clayton had an RBI double for Jefferson-Morgan (4-1, 5-4).
Bentworth 3, Frazier 2, 10 inn.: Jake Kisner doubled home Colton Brightwell with the winning run in the 10th inning of Bentworth’s 3-2 victory over Frazier in a Section 1-AA game.
Brightwell opened the inning with a single and Justin Kisner moved him to second with a single. That set up Jake Kisner’s heroics. Jake Kisner pitched the first eight innings and struck out seven for Bentworth (3-2, 6-5). The Bearcats had 13 hits and left 14 on base.
Frazier fell to 2-4 and 4-5.
Softball
Burgettstown 11, Carlynton 0: Madisonn Monaghan drove in four runs and Aubrey Krivak tossed a four-hit shutout in Burgettstown’s 11-0 victory over Carlynton in a Section 1-AA game.
Bri Krynak went 2-for-3 with three RBI for the Blue Devils (4-3, 4-6). Krivak walked one and struck out seven.
Carlynton is 1-6 in the section.
Canon-McMillan 10, Mt. Lebanon 3: Canon-McMillanscored all its runs in a 10-3 win over Mt. Lebanon in two innings of this Section 1 game in Class 6A.
The Big Macs (5-3, 6-4) scored seven times in the third and added three more in the seventh.
Seven batters had at least one RBI and nine had at least one RBI for C-M. Grace Higgins drove in two on sacrifice flies and Hailey Freeman went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Winning pitcher Brooke Perri struck out fiive in 5 1/3 innings. Olivia Ulam doubled twice.
Laurie Kubancek hit a solo home run for Mt. Lebanon (3-6, 3-6).
